The question: what do we mean by Australian values, and who gets to define them?
The inquiry explores the historical, cultural and civic foundations of Australian identity across diverse voices, and separates the values Australians genuinely share from those that are actively contested.
Inquiry 2. Fairness and equity: how fair is Australia?
The question: what does a fair Australia look like, and are we building it?
The inquiry examines structural inequality across income, housing, health, education and opportunity, and what a genuinely fair Australia would require.
Inquiry 4. Australia in 2035: the choices we make now
The question: what kind of country do we want to be in ten years?
The inquiry uses foresight methods to surface the technological, demographic and environmental forces that will reshape Australia, and the decisions available now.
Inquiry 3. Social cohesion and the national good#
The question: what holds Australia together, and what is pulling it apart?
The inquiry looks at the forces of connection and fragmentation in a diverse, rapidly changing nation, including trust in institutions and the shrinking space for difficult public conversation.
