AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL RESEARCH CONGRESS
20th March, 2012 - Canberra, Australia

Eidos Institute will be hosting its annual Australian National Research Congress on March 20th, 2012 in Canberra, ACT. In accordance with Eidos’ commitment to facilitating public debate and raising the level of democratic conversation within Australian society, the aim of the event will be twofold:

  1. To provide an opportunity for key stakeholders and thinkers within academia, industry and government to come together and propose through the means of an organised discussion what they consider are the most relevant and pressing issues within the Australian public policy agenda.
  2. To permit for Eidos Australian Policy Resource Facility (APRF) representatives to engage and collaborate in an annual meeting aimed at reviewing its structure, mechanisms and projects carried out during the year. The APRF gathering also seeks to identify, map and implement avenues for the translation of research into policy, to guide the Eidos Research Agenda and the operational mechanism of the group.

The Eidos Australian Research Congress will provide participants with a comprehensive opportunity to propose a forward agenda for future policy issues, as well as collaborative frameworks and engagement platforms as provided by the Eidos Institute partnership. This congress will carry out a ‘future scoping’ exercise, identifying the trending and most pressing policy issues in Australia, aiming to advance their discussion and provide recommendations.

From this gathering, participants will benefit from the working groups and networking sessions, finding value in being presented with the opportunity to engage key stakeholders in the dialogue of a particular policy issue, finding fellow collaborators and becoming familiar and/or involved with current initiatives and projects. Furthermore, APRF representatives will find that Congress provides a breeding ground for avenues to articulate and implement the translation of policy between industry, academia and government.
