The Eidos Network Print E-mail

Eidos is a completely independent, not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to the value of ideas and social change. Our point of difference is the depth and capacity for influence our network affords. Eidos consists of a network of a growing body of industry partners and 14 member universities:

Universities are the breeding ground for ideas. As an independent think tank, Eidos represents the perfect way to multiply and mobilize these ideas and turn them into concrete proposals for social change.

Our network builds momentum and power off the increasing need for connectivity between public servants, academics and the private sector and proudly counts itself amongst a new wave of think tanks which are rapidly becoming major social agents and key players on the Australian political scene.

Statistical analysis contribution:

Dr Peter Grimbeck: Peter has worked for more than a decade as stats/methods advisor in settings that have included QUT, Griffith University, University of New England, and the University of Tasmania. Peter has also worked as a private consultant since the mid-1990s, including a number of EIDOS projects. Peter has highly developed skills in designing, developing, and analysing surveys, and statistical interests include the use of SPSS Optimal Scaling for demographic variables, AMOS for structural equation modelling, Winsteps for Rasch analysis, and Leximancer (http://www.leximancer.com/) for automated text analysis. In 2008-09, Peter played a critical role in the Eidos/Allen Consulting project in the Skills Gap Study of Bahrain with roles in relation to data collection and analysis. Peter contributed significantly to developing and analysing four surveys of business employers, their employees, training institutions, and their graduates. These surveys were negotiated with the client to ensure the data would produce consistent and robust analysis of employment, skills, qualifications and attitudes to skills formation for 11 key economic activities. As well as basic descriptive and inferential analyses, Peter used exploratory and confirmatory factor analytic procedures to identify themes in the attitudes of employees to work.
