Gender Order MC dale spender (lower case intentional) shares her thoughts on her long term relationship with feminism.  In purple font, no less.

I’ve been a feminist as long as I can remember and it used to upset me at meetings that a woman could make a suggestion - and the discussion proceeded as if she hadnt said a word. No one would acknowledge her contribution.

And then about three minutes later a man could say the same thing – often using the very same words – and the men (and the women) would comment – ‘What a good idea Fred!’

The death of feminism?

June 06, 2010 Forums@Ann by Sam Dean

Eidos seminar talks contemporary gender roles, lipstick feminism and Alf Stewart…

My mother is a second-wave feminist.  For those of you not in the know, second wave feminism refers to the period of feminist activity beginning in the early 1960’s and lasting through to the shoulder-pads and power dressing of the 1980’s.  It’s burn your bra, smash the glass-ceiling, I-am-woman-hear-me-roar type stuff.  Inspirational.  Revolutionary.  It’s also a pretty hard act to follow.
