Who we are

The Eidos Institute's Australian Policy Resource Facility (APRF) is an operational initiative of the Eidos Institute, a market-leading independent think tank with a focus on public policy and a commitment to achieving improved outcomes in key areas of national importance through innovation and collaboration.

As a public policy think tank free of an ideological bent, Eidos is a unique entity on the Australian political landscape, consisting of a network of member universities, associates and industry partners.

Over the past five years Eidos has tested and developed what has become a respected methodology for ongoing policy reform.

Our Capacity

The Eidos Institute's APRF is a representative body providing a gateway for industry and government to the Eidos Institute of research and university networks. With a membership of 13 universities and campuses in all major cities and regional areas throughout Australia, the APRF has unparalleled access to Australia’s leading minds and researchers.

Our Capability

The Eidos Institute's APRF contributes a breadth and depth of skills and expertise across varying fields within industry, academia and government sectors. Individuals from each member university represent the APRF group at functions, events and in collaborative APRF projects. Contributors to APRF operations include member universities and individuals from the Eidos Institute and its Associate program, as well as industry and government representatives.

Our Mission

The mission of the Eidos Institute's APRF is twofold:

•  To become and serve as a collective research entity with a concerted focus on public policy thinking, providing a portal for government, industry and universities with rapid and reliable access to leading Australian and international technical expertise; best practice across a range of disciplines; and high quality research capability.

• To embody a model of living, breathing collaboration between universities across Australia, in order to offer the opportunity to network and collaborate with institutions that complement and share areas of expertise on large-scale strategic opportunities.

The APRF is committed to demonstrating the value of partnerships and large-scale collaboration in events, projects and consulting opportunities. Through an intellectual, independent and joint strategy, APRF seeks to encourage the nexus between research and policy formulation.

Our Vision

By 2013, the APRF aims to:

• Have the acknowledgement and recognition of the community it seeks to serve;

• Be regarded as a standpoint for collaborative knowledge;

• Attract significant interest from universities seeking to join its collaborative network and become members of Eidos; and

• Partner with a number and variety of government and industry bodies who would like to work with the APRF and its member universities on forums, events, projects, tenders and panels of regional and national scope.

By 2016, the APRF aims to:

• Extend the reach of its discussion, debate and quality research on Australian public policy forums across Australia;

• Demonstrate its value and relevance to all industry, government and academic sectors;

• Demonstrate growth in quantitative and qualitative performance.

• Bridge the gap between policy and research, connecting the government, industry and academic sectors.

• Be recognized as a relevant and timely research source for specific policy issues that is a self-sustaining policy influencer.

Our Objectives

• Provide an independent source of policy advice to government and non-government organisations with the support of 13 member universities

• Provide rapid access to high-quality multi-disciplinary research

• Promote independent and legitimate connections with and between the areas of policy, politics and research

• Utilise leading edge technology and innovative modes of practice to exist at the forefront of focused and targeted collaborative approaches to key policy challenges
