As an avid supporter of open debate and dialogue on topical public policy issues, the Eidos Institute has recognised the need for an open space for Australia’s leading and emerging researchers and policy leaders to promote and present their latest findings.  In light of this recognition, Eidos Institute is excited to launch The Eidos National Conference Series 2011.

The Eidos Institute’s National Conference Series 2011 provides an opportunity for researchers and policy leaders to present, promote and disseminate world-class research to a broad audience.  This dissemination allows the private and public sector, key government decision makers, as well as world-class researchers to initiate and maintain dialogue, resulting in a more informed public sphere.

Held nationally throughout 2011 and presented by Eidos in partnership with leading university members and industry partners, is unique in that it focuses on cross-institutional engagement with universities and government nationwide, highlighting topical issues within the public policy arena and evaluating them from a platform of evidence based research.

There are ten principles that this Conference Series aims to achieve.

  1. Respond to nationally significant projects which align to current and identified policy agendas of governments;
  2. Profile and highlight Eidos Institute network members groundbreaking research and innovative approaches to persistent policy issues;
  3. Disseminate world-class research from several leading academics within a single event;
  4. Raise funds for Eidos Institute Gift Fund in support of ‘blue sky’ research;
  5. Promote cross institutional engagement and collaborative research across Eidos Institute universities, in alignment with the broader objective of contributing to the nations combined intellectual capital;
  6. Facilitate private and public partnerships in the name of enlightened and innovative approaches to policy formulation;
  7. Introduce key policy makers to high quality research and facilitate interaction between the arms of government and academia;
  8. Highlight Eidos’ four key program areas for it’s 2011 research agenda (life, wired, safe, community);
  9. Influence current trends and attitudes; and
  10. Push the boundaries of dialogue and debate within an independent framework

Following the achievement of these principles, the National Conference Series will provide a space for sustained intellectual dialogue and critical assessment of public policy strategies.
