    Queensland University of Technology

    The Centre undertakes high impact research for a wide range of educational stakeholders. Its research is focused on the creation of new knowledge and the investigation of a broad range of educational issues that impact on policy and practice at state, national and international levels. Situated in the largest Faculty of Education in Australia , the Centre of Learning Innovation utilises the breadth and depth of Faculty expertise to strengthen its collaborative research partnerships within and outside the Queensland University of Technology.

    CLR researches new ways of preparing learners to engage successfully with a changing world. It examines how new technologies, innovative learning processes and pathways and different kinds of knowledge and values, empower learners, transform lives, shape identities and influence a changing world. The work of the Centre is focused on improving the quality of learning wherever and whenever it occurs, the achievements of learning communities and learning economies, individuals' sense of connectedness and meaning, and the reach and effects of learning policies.

    It aims to create better learning approaches across the lifespan; everyday and institutionalized learning settings; formal and informal kinds of learning; personally, socially and economically important curricular outcomes; and new and emerging learning technologies.

    The objectives are to investigate learning problems and challenges, develop innovative learning solutions, advance learning theory, and promote innovative practices and policies in general, higher, adult, community and vocational education.

  • Centre For Research in Transformative Pedagogies (CRTP)
    The University of Southern Queensland

    The Centre for Research in Transformative Pedagogies will promote and support high quality research into the full spectrum of human development from primary through tertiary to lifelong learning, to maintain USQ’s identity as a leading provider of innovative, trans-national and multi-modal higher education, and to further its reputation as an educational leader in transformative pedagogies.

    CRTP will strive to provide hands-on research experiences to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and academic staff. Collaborations between faculties and other educational providers will enable the CRTP to achieve this goal. Transformative pedagogies engages lecturers, teachers and learners in processes that enable them to construct new knowledge that will enhance the quality of their personal lives, their communities and their worlds. As such, the aura of government policy, leadership and organisational influences are also key topics for CRTP.

  • Centre for Applied Language, Literacy and Communication Studies
    Griffith University

    Since its inception in 2003, the Centre for Applied Language, Literacy and Communication Studies (CALLCS) has promoted research synergies by bringing together existing groups of scholars from the Centre for Literacy and Language Education Research (CLLER), the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics (LAL), the Centre for Deafness Studies and Research, and academics across four schools from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts.

    This means that the language-culture-context interface is being investigated from a range of theoretical approaches and methodologies in ways that have not been combined previously. CALLCS is investigating this interface from the diverse perspectives of first and second language and literacy acquisition and use, drawing on different theoretical perspectives including: sociolinguistics, cognition, linguistic analysis, discourse analysis, and critical-cultural theory.

  • The Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance

    The Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance (KCELJAG) aims to provide a distinctive and significant response to the challenges facing the values and institutions of liberal democracy, through the application of the insights of academics and practitioners in the fields of law, ethics, politics and criminology.

    Griffith University

    The Centre for Leadership and Management in Education (CLME) is dedicated to developing and supporting educational leaders and aspiring leaders through applied research and practical professional development projects.

    The Centre exists to contribute to the improvement of the quality of aspiring and practising educational leaders and managers and their schools. To do so requires recognition of the need for partnerships between CLME and its clients throughout the design and delivery of its services. These partnerships will ensure that workplace ideas, issues and challenges drive the services CLME provides. In short, CLME is dedicated to tailoring professional development and applied research to the specific needs of educational leaders, particularly in their roles as leaders of the whole school community.

  • The Centre for Professional Development
    Griffith University

    The Centre for Professional Development was established as an Academic Centre in 2003 as a result of its successful proposal. The Centre is an allied centre of the School of Education and Professional Studies. The Centre is a focus for teacher professional development courses, particularly at the postgraduate level and for close links with regional schools and private colleges through its innovative professional studies program. The Centre also undertakes a range of research activities and is an important venue for conference and special purpose seminar developments.

    The Centre for Professional Development, under the direction of Dr Maxine Cooper, provides innovative professional experience programs for pre-service teacher education students, and offers continuing education and professional development programs for educators in the southeast coast region of Queensland, Australia.

  • The Office for Community Partnerships
    Griffith University

    In 2003, Griffith University established the Office for Community Partnerships (OCP). This office, under the leadership of Professor Sharon Bell, aims to bring community engagement - a field in which this university has always felt very much at home - into our core business.

    The concept of community partnership is not limited to the local area. The OCP sees our community as being far wider than our geographic neighbours. It includes an international network of organisations. Our university already has many links with its external community, with strong gateways through centres like the EcoCentre, the Multi-Faith Centre and initiatives such as the Griffith Review.

  • The Griffith University Multi-Faith Centre
    Griffith University

    In May 2002, the Griffith University Multi-Faith Centre was opened on the Nathan Campus through generous donations from various individuals and faith communities. The Centre was envisioned a venue where people from diverse faith, religious and spirituality traditions can deepen their understanding of their own faith and actively participate in inter-faith dialogue, education and action.

    As a unit with the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Equity and Community Partnerships), the Multi-Faith Centre also seeks to weave understanding, education, research and advocacy in inter-faith dialogue towards a culture of peace in local, national and global contexts.

  • The Centre for Public Culture and Ideas

    CPCI's purpose is to conduct integrated and cross-disciplinary research into major contentious issues of our time and the new publics forming around these issues.

    The Centre for Public Culture and Ideas (CPCI) is a university-funded Category A Research Centre. It has over 60 members and staff in a variety of schools and faculties located across four campuses: Nathan, Mt Gravatt, South Bank and the Gold Coast. In addition, the CPCI has a formal, cooperative agreement with the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre.
