ABOUT THE BOARD
The purpose of the governance structure is to ensure that Eidos complies with its governance obligations and drives its strategic plan.
The challenge of a new and innovative enterprise with diverse partners requires a Board with particular values and skillsets.
On 14 July 2006, Eidos Institute Ltd became a scientific institution and not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
To achieve our vision and objectives Eidos relies on the capabilities of our employees, our participant members, and the systems that support our collective work. The Eidos Institute Ltd Board has an explicit focus on developing a culture of excellence, which includes teamwork, collaboration, cooperation, and learning. The Board must have the skills and culture to consistently work towards developing in Eidos an environment that focuses on quality, underpinned by systems that enable individuals to work autonomously and creatively within a structured and collaborative framework.
The Eidos Institute Ltd Board bring the necessary and demonstrated independent expertise to realise the Eidos vision, particularly in corporate governance; public and private sector investment; research and development activities in private and public sectors; education and training; risk management; and, commercial business leadership
Mark Nolan is the Chair for Eidos Institute Ltd. He brings demonstrated expertise and experience in governance, public private sector partnership and investment, risk management and commercial business enterprise experience.
Individually, our independent Board has led the development and implementation of significant public-private partnership development; a globally recognised policy and practice think tank; an international non-government educational organisation; innovative national cooperative research models; high impact and research quality management systems.
In total the Board has led and managed more than 2 billion dollars of research, policy and practice initiatives and partnerships.
In an era where institutes and centres are being founded on a regular basis – the competition for capacity and influence is high. We have been extremely fortunate to attract a Board who bring demonstrated achievement in building capacity and influence.
The Eidos 2006-08 Corporate Plan outlines the proposed stages in transitioning Eidos from a ‘start-up’ to a successful and sustainable institute. The formation of this Board draws a line under the establishment phase of Eidos and signals a strong shift of leadership energy and focus onto the important work of attracting and managing major research funding for members. The Board approach this challenge with a sense of urgency. Their skills in partnerships, national and international networking, attracting funding including for public/private collaborations and a commitment to excellence ensures that this next phase in the growth of Eidos will be rewarding for all members and partners.
